Big Red

Last Friday an confused elderly driver sideswiped Big Red, my Chevy pickup truck. (Nobody was injured) Big Red has been in the shop all week and I miss her dearly. Especially since the insurance company gave me a teeny weeny Toyota Tuna Can rental to use while she's in the shop. This week I realized I drive around this town with a Big Ass Truck Attitude. It's a different story when you're in a small car low to the ground. I hereby apologize for my previous attitude and any intimidation I may have purposely or unconsciously caused.

Unfinished concrete floors

When I am the Dutchess of Construction, retail spaces and restaurants will no longer be allowed to leave their nasty concrete floors unfinished. I suppose this look was chic in converted and developed warehouse spaces, but in small retail and commercial space this is an awful look. It's the lazy way out.

I ate lunch today at Betty's Burgers in Capitola, my first look at this new restaurant on 41st Ave. And while the food was terrific, I felt like I was eating in the garage due to the nasty unfinished concrete floor. At least give it a coat of stain or polish it. Oh and take the plastic off the seat fabric, but that's another day's rant.
